Additionally, you are responsible for the development of the Alumni Network and the organisation of the PIECES & Friends Day as well as for other initiatives such as the implementation of online conversation classes for example.
So if you are well organised, able to work in a team and willing to take on responsibility, the position of Vice-President is a good fit for you!

Head of Projects

As Head of Projects, you are responsible for the organization of the projects and the selection of volunteers. To organize the projects you will have to choose a team and lead it to achieve successful projects. This experience helped me develop my organization and leadership skills. Preparing the selection process of the volunteers was also a wonderful experience, since I had the opportunity to put myself in the position of the interviewer and gain a new perspective on interviews. All in all, being Head of Projects is ideal for those of you looking for the chance to take on responsibilities, improve your organizational- and problem-solving skills.

Head of Education

The Education Department creates the teaching material, which is distributed to the volunteers during the projects. As PIECES is active in different areas and as the ages of participants vary, it is crucial to adapt to the given circumstances and to create suitable and professional teaching material. By meeting previous volunteers and talking about their teaching experiences, you get unique insights, which help you to create the materials according to the project conditions. Your tasks will consist of the expansion of the PIECES Teaching Booklet. Furthermore, you will help organising the bi-annual Coaching Day for the volunteers. Moreover, you help implementing the Conversation Classes. You should be interested in the education sector and preferably have gained teaching experience in the past. You should also be able to think creatively and come up with new ideas. Good collaboration and teamwork skills are necessary to work professionally.

Head of Events

The Events Department is responsible for the creation and organization of fun events that bring people together, raise awareness and money for our projects abroad. By joining our team, you are able to put your ideas into practice and to organise your own social gatherings, such as our famous BP-Tournaments, Bake Sales, the Boot Camp, and other activities. You will experience great teamwork, as you will also organize internal events (Team Building Days) and gain communication skills, take over responsibility and get to know many new people. You should be a driven, extroverted person with good teamwork skills, have a flair for attracting a crowd and of course be good at scheduling. This team is comprised of six Active Members.

Head of Finance & Sponsoring

The Finance and Sponsoring Department is responsible for raising money and awareness for PIECES' volunteering projects. By contacting (potential) sponsors such as companies, foundations and service clubs, you will gain experience in how to communicate in a professional way. You have to get get creative by coming up with new ideas to raise money and will try to establish long-term relationships with your existing sponsors. Moreover, You also will organize freebies (such as food for the coaching day, beer for the BP Tournament or other things). You will be able to seclect your own team and work in the board, which are interesting and unique responsibilities  that you will not encompass again that quickly after graduating from university.

Head of Marketing

The Marketing Department aims at increasing PIECES’ reputation inside and outside of the University. We obtain this goal by advertising to our target group through different channels such as social media, flyers, our website and presence at info events. Furthermore, we reach the public through newspapers and our presence at PIECES Events. As Head of Marketing, you will not just create flyers, videos and other promotion material but you will work alongside your fellow Board Members and your Active Members. By coming up with new ideas to do marketing, you will gain professional experience in your field and obtain important soft skills when working in a team. You are a good fit in case you have a creative mind, you write flawlessly in English and/or German and you have a clever and intriguing way of expressing yourself. The abilities to work in a team, under stress as well as being able to take initiative on your own is crucial to ensure further growth and prosperity. Lastly, you should have the will to move something and be convinced of the work PIECES does.
“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” (Maya Angelou)

Head of IT

By joining PIECES as an executive Board Member and Head of IT you will work closely together with the current Board and gain a deep insight into the different departments. Hence, you will be able to look for creative and innovative improvements (such as an online application website, Google Analytics or new communication platforms). Your main responsibility will be managing the website as well as uploading new content (with the help of the Marketing and Events department).
You will also be responsible for the IT infrastructure and its constant improvement.  You will learn to work with website tools, Google-for-Non-Profits and Slack.
