Are you interested in becoming a PIECES Active Member for the academic year 2022/2023? Do you want to be part of an internationally active association organizing projects all around the globe, support the education of small children, and have a tangible impact?
The association is comprised of 5 different departments you can apply to: Projects, Education, Sponsoring & Finance, Events, and Marketing.
The following descriptions help you to find out which position suits you best. Please read them carefully before you apply. After making your decision, fill out the Application Form and attach your CV (in PDF format). We are looking forward to receiving your application!
Which Position Suits You Best? Find Out Yourself!
The Project Department’s responsibility is to ensure that the core business of PIECES works flawlessly. As an Active Member you will coordinate one of our projects in Brazil, Colombia, Mongolia, Thailand or Zambia. You will support, guide and inform the Volunteers before, during and after the project. Communicating with our international partners, you will be at the heart of the international project organization and gain valuable insights . - Do you want to be in charge of coordinating one of our amazing projects all over the world? Are you a communicative, independent, reliable person who takes initiative and has good English skills (We are particularly looking for Spanish and Portuguese speakers for our South American projects)? Then apply to become one of the 5-7 Active Members in the Projects Department!
The Education Department creates the teaching material distributed to the volunteers during the projects. As PIECES is active in different areas and as the ages of participants vary, it is crucial to adapt and create suitable and professional teaching material. By meeting previous volunteers and talking about their teaching experiences, you get unique insights which help you create materials adapted to the project conditions. Your tasks as one of 3 Active Members will consist of the expansion of the PIECES Teaching Booklet and the support of new teaching initiatives. Furthermore, you will help organise the bi-annual Coaching Days for the volunteers. To succeed in this position, you should be able to think creatively and have good teamwork skills .
The Marketing Department aims at increasing PIECES’ reputation by reaching out to our target group on social media, within the university through flyers, posters and info booths. You will create flyers and videos for promotional purposes and you will take pictures during events. By coming up with new ideas to market the association, you will gain professional experience in content creation and social media management. You are a good fit if you have a creative mind, you write flawlessly in English and/or German and you have a clever and intriguing way of expressing yourself. Teamwork, self-reliance and a sense of the initiative are crucial. The department will consist of 3 members.
The Sponsoring & Finance Department is responsible for everything that touches Pieces’ finances. You will be raising funds, ensuring in-kind sponsors for our events, and maintaining a good relationship with our financial sponsors. By contacting companies, foundations and service clubs, you will gain experience in how to communicate professionally. You will get creative by coming up with new ideas to raise money. Additionally, you will help prepare all the relevant finances such as budgets, year-end reports, account statements, etc. You will work closely together with the other departments to achieve our financial goals. This position is right for you if you have an affinity with numbers, can work in a structured manner, and pay close attention to detail. The ideal candidate for one of the 3 spots is fluent in German, outgoing, good at networking, and able to make a good impression.
The Events Department is responsible for the creation and organization of fun events that bring people together, raise awareness and money for our PIECES projects. As one of 3 Active Members, you are able to put your ideas into practice to organise external events open to anyone, such as speaker events, parties, bake sales, and the annual tombola on the one hand. On the other hand, you will put together club-internal social gatherings for PIECES members. You will experience great teamwork, gain communication skills, take over responsibility and get to know many people. You should be a driven, extroverted person with good teamwork skills, be creative to come up with event ideas, have a flair for attracting a crowd and of course be good at scheduling.

The Recruiting Process
Our application portal is open from 15th until 30th September. Each application will be forwarded to the current Board Member of the respective department. According to the number of candidatures, the Board will either interview all candidatures for their department or only interview candidates with outstanding candidatures.
We strongly advise you to send in your application on a desktop/laptop. Other devices (especially IPad Pros) have been known to only sporadically work with our application form. All of our applicants will receive a mail within 24h which will confirm their successful application.
